Yamaha India got back at the beginning of 2008 with some of the boldest unveilings at the Auto Expo. The YZF-R15 stopped heartbeats, slapped Yamaha's critics in the face and brought Japanese motorcycles back onto the list of the most desired bikes in the Indian market.

If you find yourself bored on Sunday afternoon, and if the weather permits, you may soon be wishing you had something that was fun and exciting to do. A motorcycle, they say, is the most fun you will ever have on the ground. As an avid cyclist, and as someone who just loves having a good time, I couldn't agree more. This brings me back to the before mentioned Sunday afternoon, where the sun is shining and the weather is sweet. What's missing from this picture?

I'm a big fan of Kawasaki's entry-level sport bikes. They're attractive, reliable, punchy, get great gas mileage, and they hold their value quite well. Often, people who ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250R or 500R will hold on to that bike for their spouse or children, as it provides such a stable and reliable way to enter the sport bike world with minimal investment and maximum enjoyment.

Ducati 1198S

Just like the Yamaha R1 the Ducati takes a lot of setting up to get it to work around the track. You need to get it on its nose so it'll steer well enough to change direction and hold a line. It also needs lots more damping to control the weaves and wobbles initiated by the instant power delivery of the V-twin engine and provide the stability to control the dive caused by the fierce Brembo Monobloc brakes.

Honda CBR 250R

Biking has gone from a need to a want. People want to ride something exceptional and powerful. Till date, there was only the Kawasaki Ninja 250R which could fulfill this desire for the biking enthusiast but now with the entry of the Honda CBR250R, things are going to change.

Kawasaki ZX-14

 

The Kawasaki ZX14 is the ultimate superbike of the future. Kawasaki's strategy for this bike was straightforward, but incredibly demanding. This motorcycle features an inline four cylinder engine that is compact, light, and silent as possible, despite the fact that is has 1,352cc worth of power. The digitally fuel injected and ram air inducted engine is capable of 7,500 rpm, which barely meets European regulations for street bikes.

First, let's quickly cover the basic specifications of 2009 Yamaha R1 bikes before getting side tracked by specifying all the new technology it features. 2009 Yamaha R1 motorcycles feature a liquid-cooled, 998 cc, inline four-cylinder, sixteen-valve DOHC engine. They've got a six-speed manual transmission with a multi-plate slipper clutch. The Yamaha R1 engine is capable of 180 horsepower at 12,500 rpm and 85 pound-feet (11.8 kilogram-meter) of torque at 10,000 rpm. The Yamaha R1 top speed has been experienced by consumer at or around 190 mph (257.5 kph). All this power is currently available for less than $12,500.
